Sean is a powerhouse trial attorney and the founding partner of Claggett & Sykes Trial Lawyers, where he serves as the firm’s lead trial lawyer. Since launching the firm in 2005, Sean has built a national reputation as one of the most formidable litigators in America, securing record-breaking verdicts and earning widespread acclaim for his relentless advocacy. In 2017, Sean was honored by his peers at the Nevada Justice Association as Nevada’s Trial Attorney of the Year, recognizing his exceptional skill and impact in the courtroom. Sean’s extraordinary success continued in 2021, when he obtained a $38.75 million verdict for the mother of an 11-year-old girl who was tragically killed by a garbage truck while crossing in a marked crosswalk. In 2023, Sean and the firm’s trial team in New Mexico secured a record-breaking $485 million jury verdict against national healthcare company Acadia Healthcare, Inc., for placing children in a foster home with a known sexual predator, believed to be the largest single-plaintiff sexual abuse verdict ever. That same year, he won a $48.63 million medical negligence verdict on behalf of Amy Geiler, a woman left in a locked-in state due to medical negligence. Sean’s continued his passion for justice into 2024, when he secured a $20 million verdict in a complex product defect trial lasting three months. In April 2025, he helped deliver a historic $145+ million jury verdict in a workers’ compensation bad faith case against NorGUARD Insurance Company—the largest bad faith verdict in U.S. history. Recognized in 2020 by Courtroom View Network as one of the “Who We’re Watching” lawyers—an elite group of the best trial lawyers of the decade—Sean has firmly established himself as one of the most exceptional and influential trial attorneys of his generation. Time and again, Sean proves that he’s not just a lawyer, but a fearless advocate dedicated to delivering justice for his clients on the biggest stages in the country.
Attorney, Campbell Law and Co-Author, JuryBall
John Campbell is a pioneer in the science of juries, blending rigorous academic research with real-world trial strategy to unlock the secrets of how jurors think, decide, and deliver justice. Since 2011, John has dedicated his career to studying juries, immersing himself in both groundbreaking scholarly research and high-stakes, case-specific analysis. He has explored over 700 cases involving more than a quarter of a million jurors nationwide, partnering with some of America’s most respected and successful trial lawyers to translate data into powerful courtroom results. As the former director of the Civil Justice Institute at the University of Denver College of Law, John orchestrated some of the largest academic jury research projects ever undertaken and became deeply versed in the rapidly expanding literature on juror psychology and behavior. John has worked alongside some of the world’s brightest minds to tackle fascinating questions at the intersection of human cognition and juror decision-making, examining how people weigh evidence, assign value to damages, and respond to narrative persuasion in the courtroom. His mission is clear: to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and everyday trial practice, empowering lawyers with insights that can transform their cases and deliver justice for their clients.

Alicia Campbell is a dynamic force in the legal world, known for her fearless approach to practicing law and her innovative use of data-driven strategies. Less than two years after becoming a lawyer, Alicia founded her own firm, Campbell Law LLC, blazing her own trail from the start. In the early days, she built a thriving Social Security practice and tackled a wide range of legal matters, from contract negotiations to motor-vehicle cases and consumer law disputes. Over time, Alicia discovered a deep passion and remarkable talent for taking on powerful financial institutions. She earned a reputation as the “Best Lawyer to Call If the Bank Wants Your House” in St. Louis, successfully representing clients in complex litigation against big banks and honing her formidable courtroom skills. In 2016, Alicia began integrating big data research into her practice to analyze complex cases involving multiple defendants. This innovative approach transformed her practice and became a cornerstone of her professional focus. Today, much of Alicia’s work involves collaborating with John Campbell on sophisticated big data research projects for attorneys nationwide. Campbell Law LLC, now proudly celebrating its 15th year, serves as the hub for their cutting-edge consulting work while Alicia continues to litigate her own cases, with a special emphasis on excessive force claims and class actions. Valerie P. Hans is the Charles F. Rechlin Professor of Law at Cornell Law School, where she teaches courses on torts, social science and the law, and a seminar on the contemporary American jury system. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Toronto and is a leading authority on jury systems in the USA and in other countries. Right now, she is excited to be coediting the Research Handbook on Jury Decision Making, which includes chapters by many of the top scholars who study the jury. It should be a great resource for people who want to know all that researchers have learned about juries. It will be published by Elgar within the next year or so. Her books include Business on Trial: The Civil Jury and Corporate Responsibility; Judging the Jury; American Juries: The Verdict; The Psychology of Tort Law; and Juries, Lay Judges, and Mixed Courts: A Global Perspective. Her coauthored article, Democratic Renewal and the Civil Jury, which offers recommendations for strengthening the U.S. civil jury system, was recently awarded the 2025 Civil Justice Scholarship Award from the National Civil Justice Institute. She has consulted with judges, lawyers, and courts about a variety of jury matters. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute and is on the Board of Advisors of the Civil Justice Research Initiative. She has served as president of the Law and Society Association and co-president of the Society for Empirical Legal Studies. In her spare time, she makes (admittedly pretty mediocre) wine. But hope springs eternal.

Jury Consultant
As a juror consultant who works exclusively for plaintiffs, Harry has helped trial lawyers pick juries that have delivered some of the biggest verdicts in personal injury, employment, and civil rights trials, including 40 verdicts of over $10 million and 8 verdicts over $100 million since 2021. He picked the jury in the largest employment verdict in the history of the country, the largest medical malpractice verdict in American history, and record verdicts in countless courtrooms. Harry loves teaching trial lawyers how to take jury selection to the next level, past de-selection. Harry and trial lawyer Dan Kramer co-host the new podcast Picking Justice teaching jury selection. Harry’s jury selection philosophy includes framing bias for jurors, identifying and keeping conscientious jurors, and motivating jurors to hold wrongdoing fully accountable. He believes that huge verdicts don’t just help plaintiffs, they make our world a safer, fairer place for customers, employees, and the public. When Harry is not in the courtroom, he’s a proud #GirlDad who chaperones his daughters’ elementary school field trips and referees AYSO soccer games most weekends.

"This is the Way; a cutting edge must read for every trial lawyer. Juryball is different than anything shared before. We express gratitude to the Campbells and Claggetts for years of commitment to making justice better and for publishing revolutionary extraordinary science. We started working with the Campbells because of the Claggetts years ago and have been amazed. Every case is different, but we’ll never truly know what is unique and most important unless we do the work to find out. We especially love the chapter on Wives Tales and the way this book teaches us how there should never be any set rule about what to do, how to do it, and which jurors we should trust." Tucker Merrigan, Sweeney Merrigan Law "The science behind Juryball can forecast Jury decision making and verdicts with similar accuracy to the way Sports Oddsmakers predict regularly, within a single point, the outcomes of all kinds of sporting events, the strengths, weaknesses, final scores, the winners and losers. As a firm dedicated to catastrophic injury cases the Campbells have provided our firm with a simple, objective, data-driven basis to advising our clients what numbers to accept and what numbers to reject. To reject large 8 and 9-figure offers, it must be based on reasonably objective criteria and that is exactly

Tucker Merrigan Sweeney Merrigan Law"This is an eye-opening read for anyone who wants to stay on the cutting edge of personal injury litigation. While focus groups have always been a helpful tool, they have also always suffered from the limitations of sample size and challenges in testing alternative theories, sequencing, and evidence. Big data studies go a long way to eliminating those. In this book, you will learn from the pioneers of big data who not only developed this stuff but have proven it out with amazing real world results."
Joe Fried Fried Goldberg, LLC"When Bill James invented Moneyball, the baseball establishment said he was nuts. They said it will never work and anyone doing it would be a fool. Fast forward a couple of decades and nearly every major sports team is using big data. When Alicia, John and Sean started applying big data research to cases, they heard the same comments and criticisms. Just like Bill James, they were undeterred, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable. They are true pioneers in our field whose genius is only surpassed by the fact that they are outstanding human beings."
Ed Ciarimboli Fellerman & Ciarimboli Law"When I first began working with John and Alicia, I called what they did “black magic” – how were they able to predict the “unpredictable” (the outcome of a trial); know the “unknowable” (what a jury will think)? I knew that they could, I just didn’t know how. After reading their book and learning it isn’t magic at all (or at least not exactly), but rather a rigorous and scientifically sound use of juror analytics to analyze cases, I now call what they do by a more accurate phrase: the gold standard for studying cases."
Spencer Payne Morgan & Morgan"JuryBall is an incredibly well written and well thought out book. It provides highly creative lessons which are precise, accurate and helpful. It also, very uniquely provides the science and hard data underpinning these lessons. I recommend this important book to anyone who ever plans to enter a courtroom seeking justice for deserving clients."
Mark Mandell Mandell, Boisclair & Mandell, Ltd"Preparation is key to win at trial, and big data is critical to your preparation. JuryBall shows how data is critical to understanding how jurors will perceive and process the facts of your case and how you can maximize your client’s strength and obtain justice for your client."
